Holiday Gift Guide 2022 - Ideas for babies, toddlers, kids + moms

The 2022 holiday season is upon us! Instead of bombarding you with another gift guide full of random Amazon toy ideas, I wanted to gather some of my favorite items that help both YOU and the children in your life thrive within your daily routines. As we all know by now, routines provide a sense of security, safety, and calm for both children and adults. As parents, they can help make our life easier as things become more predictable, resulting in less decision fatigue - and who doesn’t want that as we head into a new year?

The following lists some of my favorite PRACTICAL products, items, and services for babies, children, and moms. All of these are things that I personally love and use for myself and my own family and/or families I have worked with over the years.

Happy shopping!

For BABY ROUTINES

  • Solly Baby Wrap $$ - The coziest baby-wearing wrap that makes a perfect gift for an expecting parent or someone with a newborn… especially if they already have a toddler to take care of! Use code ‘ROOTEDINROUTINE10’ for 10% off.

  • A to Z Adventure Mat $$- A perfect gift for that family that travels or is on-the-go with their baby a lot! It packs up super small and serves as a place to put baby down outside, when at a friend’s house, or during pit stops when traveling (we’ve used it for feedings and changing diapers during longer car rides). It also acts as a great sun shade for the car window to make it darker for car naps - just roll your windows down a bit, place the top edge of the mat in the opening, then roll the window back up. Plus, the company is female and family-owned… I always try to support these types of small businesses! Use code ‘RR15’ for 15% off your order.

  • Lovevery Play Gym $$$ - The OG play mat for baby to hang out on for their entire first year of life…. no joke! It includes black and white card sets and detachable activity toys making it easy to switch things up so baby always has something interesting to interact with.

For TODDLER ROUTINES

  • P is for Potty Book $ - A Sesame Street classic to help introduce a toddler to the idea of the potty. Grab a few potty-related books to help make the potty training process easier even long before they start!

  • Ten Little Furry High Top Boots $$ - The cutest, softest, and most practical shoes for a toddler winter. These boots are easy to put on and take off and aren’t too clunky or heavy. Plus, they look so cozy!

  • Y Velo Balance Bike $$ - A great first toddler bike that helps promote balance from the start to forgo the need for training wheels. Don’t forget a helmet!

For KID ROUTINES

  • The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game $ - My favorite first board game for preschoolers. This is a great one to help build fine motor skills and practice taking turns. Plus, kids love the squirrel tweezers! This can be a great addition to a Friday evening game night or a lazy weekend morning.

  • Time Timer MOD $ - This classic visual timer is perfect to help teach a preschooler or elementary school child the concept of time. Time is a really hard concept for young children to understand, so pairing it with some sort of visual learning tool can really help. Plus, I’ve never met a kid who doesn’t love a timer! This MOD timer is small enough to move from room to room or throw in a diaper bag to bring to the park or another special place that can be difficult for children to leave. A win-win for both children and parents!

  • Little Tikes Indoor Trampoline $$$ - The perfect addition to gear up for a long, cold winter indoors. Let them get all of their energy out!

For MOM ROUTINES

For those who want to soak up all the information:

  • Good Inside by Dr. Becky Kennedy $ - A practical guide to help kids of any age build resilience, confidence, and emotional regulation. This book should be on every parent’s night stand!

  • The Nurtured Foundations Cookbook $ - Some new and fresh recipe ideas for the entire family…. co-written by a pediatric occupational therapist and registered dietician.

  • RIR Routine Guide gift card $$ - Gift a Rooted in Routine Guide (or two) to a friend or family member and make their lives 100% easier. Choose from anywhere from newborn - 5 years!

  • HERself Self Care Course $$ - For a mom who is feeling burnt out, stressed, or running on empty - this would make the perfect gift!

For those who need a little more self-care:

  • Olive & June nail polish set $ - The prettiest holiday manicure set for a mom in your life who wants a little sparkle and shine this holiday season.

  • Skinny Confidential Ice Roller $$ - Okay, I know what you may be thinking - $69 for an ice roller!? But TRUST ME - this one does not disappoint. I keep mine in the freezer and it stays ice cold which feels so good on your face in the morning and helps wake you right up. A great addition to a tired mom’s morning routine.

  • Expecting and Empowered workout app $$ - For the mom who is newly pregnant or the one who had all of her babies years ago, this pregnancy/postpartum workout app has something for everyone - truly! Prenatal yoga, pregnancy + postpartum strength workouts, and even options for women years after their final pregnancy…. it’s all in one place! I personally love this option in both the pregnancy and postpartum stage. Gift a year to a friend and use code ‘ROOTED’ for a discount!

Hope this list is helpful in your search for the perfect holidays gifts for the loved ones in your life. Cheers to a happy and healthy (we could all use it this year) holiday season!
